Mission Statement
First First Baptist Church, Bagdad Florida endeavors, under the leadership and guidance of the Holy Spirit to be a church that fulfills three primary objectives. First and foremost, we will be a church that fulfills the Great Commission of Matthew 28:18-20, and be mission-minded in the spirit of Acts 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
We will win the lost! We will focus on local and regional missions as well as the outer ends of the earth through giving to the cooperative program and through direct involvement. We believe God will bless our church if we turn outward and give of our time and resources.
Secondly, we will worship as the Body of Christ. Psalm 150 says, "Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament! Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness. Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp! Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord." We will have a Worship Service where the praise of the redeemed reaches to the Heavens. We will do this by singing our endeared hymns as well as songs which have the same revered message but with a more contemporary sound. We may change in presentation, but we will hold fast in Doctrine and the belief that the Bible is the final authority and the inerrant Word of our Holy God. We will adapt our worship as necessary to reach and minister to our younger families and youth while maintaining a balance with our faithful seniors. We trust that God will show us and lead us into the Praise and Worship that is most pleasing to Him.
Finally, we will be a church where disciples are made. Luke 14:33 says, "So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple." Christ has not saved us to be inactive and unappreciative. Christ died for us so that we may walk the streets of gold; however, until that day comes we must be busy at work in His Kingdom. We must prepare and equip Christians, new and old, to fight the battle against the forces of darkness.
Our task is great and daunting, but God has not called us to fail. Our spirits must be willing and our minds resolved to see the name of Jesus lifted up in a manner that will bring Him joy. We resolve to be a church and people of both prayer and action, fervently seeking the Spirit of the Living God to serve the Risen King.
